The Razor E300 electric scooter Review
- Not Jazzy but has all necessary features
While this might dishearten you to know that Razor E300 electric scooted is not equipped with the abundance and plethora of fancy and jazzy features, but Razor electric scooter makers did make sure to include most important ones that count and makes it different from others. The visibly larger and well-spaced deck very easily and comfortably accommodates both your feet on it and if you are little more hungry for fun and excitement and you may want to or might just prefer to sit down while riding, there is a version of this scooter that comes with a removable seat – Razor E300S, a razor electric scooter with a seat, You don’t take anything sitting down, except your commute. Standing while riding is great great fun, but when you need to relax, Razor E300S electric scooter with a seat has got your back. With a quick-change soft padded seat and extra-wide pneumatic tires, you can blister across all kind of terrains of your choice at speeds of up to 15 mph, or just sit back, relax, and enjoy the chill.
- Razor E300 10” pneumatic tyres are a big thumbs up!
It might be interesting to know that most of the cheap electric scooters available in market today (and some expensive ones too) have small polyurethane wheels. Well, nice! Because while polyurethane tires are amazing because they are simply puncture proof and don’t need to get filled with air repetitively, but sad part is that they don’t provide that shock absorption like good old fashion pneumatic tires would do . That is why, while riding Razor E300 electric scooter, you will feel good for sure and yes, very stable too irrespective of the surfaces you are riding on, even if that are not ideally flat, such as dirt and gravel, rocky train, mountains or hills!
- Who doesn’t need a kickstand?
Razor E300 ELECTRIC SCOOTER comes with a retractable kickstand that allows to quickly get your weight off the scooter and leave it standing on its own, with no need to leaning it to any surface or wall support.
- Take it where you want to, it will go with you
This little moving electric scooter can be your best friend because of its portability: with 43lbs as its weight, The Razor E300 electric scooter is extremely portable as it features a fold-able design.
Detailed review of Razor E300 electric scooter features
- Design & Build
The Razor E300 is the strong, larger and upgraded version of already existing Razor E100 and Razor E200. A nice smooth amply spacious large deck, strong sturdy steel frame and 10” pneumatic tires make this scooter looks like a serious transportation device. The beautifully painted and manicured steel frame looks amazingly good and feels sturdy without being too heavy. Considering the design, we won’t say that Razor E300 electric scooter is a treat to beholder’s eyes but seriously, with this price its really unfair to expect the same attention to minor detail as other scooters, so it’s fine that wires for the brakes are little loose and visibly hang down outside of the frame with plastic clips which barely hold them in place. It’s Simplicity wins my heart, It’s not stylish; functional, definitely not fashionable; that’s what Razor is all about. If you need something peppy and good looking, take look at some other brand.
- Power & Range
It features a high torque, chain driven, electric motor that can travel to 15 mph, controlled by the twist grip throttle. While this motor provides plenty of power for you to swiftly zip around on the flat, climbing hills is a struggle for this scooter. Considering that the E300 is designed for riders under 220 lbs, if you are an adult you probably weigh more, so don’t even think about going up an incline. The range on a full charge is between 7 and 8 miles, which is just enough for a quick trip to a grocery store, or a fun ride around the neighborhood.
- Battery & Charging
The Razor E300 electric scooter battery system consists of two 12v sealed lead acid rechargeable batteries and it might me the immediate reason how Razor managed to keep the price of E300 so reasonable, at any given point of time, with new innovation, investing in a good Lithium battery is definitely a very good idea. These batteries will give you only about 40 minutes to an hour of riding time, and after that it takes 10-12 hours of charging for battery to be fully charged and ready to ride again. However, one important thing which is missing here is the speedometer and battery bank reflector, it could have been really better if Razor could put up an indicator that tells you the remaining battery and the current speed.
- Assembly required
Just take it out of the box and it’s easily manageable to assemble it with the help of basic tools to tighten the nuts and bolts. Honestly, we managed to assemble it in 5 minutes. Just screw the steering column in as the final step and wroom, you are good to go. It’s fast, it’s quiet, it has anything and everything a scooter rider could wish for. How I only wish it came equipped with at least a reflective tape for safety. Or Led lights could have done a better job. Small additions I would suggest are strip of LED lights and a bell, if not horn!! Overall, Setting it up and installation and assembling was really easy and figuring out how it works was very intuitive.
- Storing and Everyday care
The user Manual that comes inside the box of scooter clearly says not to store it in temperature below freezing point, so leaving your machine alone in the garage all out in winter is absolutely out of the question and a really bad idea. Rider! Keep that in mind. In fact, it’s important to find a place to put your scooter before it arrives; it should be kept in a dry place where it won’t be affected by humid or damp weather conditions, since those could damage the battery life and circuiting.
- Make sure you have not left it to charge throughout the night, you would end up destroying batteries.
- Also, Make sure you don’t leave it turned ON, when not in use.
Another thing to like about the Razor E300 is its amazing price tag, which is very affordable and easy on the wallet for most consumers. The E300 features a very comfortable and spacious deck which can bear a maximum weight of 220 pounds. It is driven by an engine that has a high torque motor which gives it a top speed of 15 miles per hour. Razor uses lead-acid batteries in its E300 model which gives it an impressive range to go along with that high speed. With a full charge, the Razor E300 electric scooter is capable of running for 40 minutes. The scooter features an easy control system whereby the rider simply needs to use the twist-grip throttle for maneuvering forward and there is also a rear brake mechanism which can be hand-operated. Due to a lightweight structure, even when the battery runs out, you can simply use your own Body weight to power the scooter. The E300 is perfect for a fun, short commute and leisure rides under the evening sun!
Now, the biggest question is can Razor E300 electric scooter climb uphill?
Well, let me try to answer this in Razor E300 electric scooter Review. Apparently, Razor E300 electric scooter is gaining popularity as the best Electric Scooter for Going Up and climbing Hills.
In fact, it is one of the most important feature to consider, while buying an electric scooter, I am sure whoever bought an electric scooter must have for sure wondered about an electric scooter that can climb uphill, but honestly, how many scooters can do it at all?
It one of the most important thing in a scooter to allow you to climb hills while having well speed and range. Interestingly, there are very few trusted electric scooters brands in market that can actually pull this off.
Razor is one of the top brand to do that and Razor E300 electric scooter is the perfect model that rise and shine above all the other mobile electric scooters simply because of its strong tyres, sturdy design and steel body material and multiple other superior features over others. The Razor E300 electric scooter is a wildly popular choice among teenagers as well as Adults and like in mentioned earlier, Razor is a very trusted brand in this industry due to their long history of making amazing products that give the consumers a great value for their money.
The E300 is extremely easy to handle and portable too as it features a fold-able design. Besides claiming to have some really unique design features, the razor E300 electric scooter looks super cool and has an impressive speed of 15mph, which for sure makes it a very attractive choice for both adults and teenagers who are looking for both stylish and comfortable posture in an electric scooter. Let me tell you, initially, it was built as a basic entry-level model for electric scooter riding enthusiasts but its speed and design helps it differentiate itself from the other mobility based electric scooter brands.
Yay’s and Nay’s of Razor E300 electric scooter:
- It is absolutely perfect and preferred choice for fun, leisure rides as well as for regular work commute or grocery shopping rides.
- Rajor E300 electric scooter is very lightweight so you can easily fold it and keep it in the trunk of your car.
- Affordably priced at $228.00, this is the best priced electric scooter in this range. It feels easy on pocket too.
- It is capable of reaching high speeds: With speeds up to 15mph, wider tires, and steely-gray structure profile, your ride just got way more interesting and thrilling. Yay for saving on energy!
- The powerful motor and power supply from lithium ion batteries and not to forget the strong steel structure, allows Razor E300 electric scooter performs well even in rough and treacherous terrains.
- First and the worst thing about Razor E300 is that it takes a really long time to charge. The charge time recommended for this Razor electric scooter is about 10-12 hours for a 45 minutes ride. The problem is that you always have to carry its charger around and off course, have to work hard on finding a charging point too. Risk is that what if you couldn’t find a charging point. Though manufactures are working with government on battery swap plans but we are not sure, how much time it will take.
- The scooter has a limited range of 40- 45 minutes. After that either you better have a charger with an electric charging point or be prepared.
- Like we mentioned earlier, it’s really bad that the Razor E300 doesn’t have neither a battery charge indicator nor a speedometer. So you don’t get to know, how much battery is left, you can’t calculate how far you can go with left over battery life or when do you need to charge. It’s just that you have used it so you need to put it back on charging as soon as you get access to charging point.
- Razor E300 electric scooter is louder than other models. It just can’t operate powerfully without creating a loud and annoying noise with attract other’s attention too.
So, In total I liked the large sized deck and Pneumatic tyres and that it is very reasonably priced and what I didn’t are the SLA batteries which charges at very slow pace and lack of battery indicator and speedometer.
Alternative Product – Razor E300S Seated Electric Scooter
If you are looking for another scooter that you can use during your quick trips around your neighborhood, we can fully recommend the Razor E300S seated Electric Scooter. The amazing thing about it is that the seat is of course detachable, and you can ride the Razor E300S Scooter for up to 40 minutes of continuous riding before recharging. It’s recommended for kids above 12 years of age.
I really like this scooter, especially for the price, speed and design.
Scooter has big tyres so I figured it might work on some dirt roads in the desert that the skinny tire scooters would not. But this scooter has no climbing ability so we will see if it works out. This scooter is small enough that it actually fits well in my small van RV where space is precious
Razor E300 vs Razor E300S
So, Basically the Razor E300 and Razor E300S are the same electric scooter, only difference is that the Razor E300S comes with a soft, large and comfortable seat, allowing the rider to sit down, enjoy an even more comfortable ride. So, in nutshell, if you just take off the removable seat of the Razor E300S, what you get is the Razor E300.
While there are some people who claim that there are differences between E300 and E300S, we can confidently say that there are not any evident or major differences. At least none of them are significant enough to consider changing your buying decision.
And if that instills some level of trust and confidence in you, even the official Razor customer support have repetitively mentioned that there are no significant differences and these are just the same scooter, with just different codes for different resellers!
The Verdict, Conclusion:
Check it from multiple sources and check it by any means, The Razor E300 electric scooter is for sure the best electric scooter in the Razor line. It’s like, it has become the must-have of every list as a middle range, performance and range scooter. Like I mentioned earlier, there are other variants too from Razor, Like the Razor E300 also has a seat option available in the E300S. The E300 is the fastest and the best. It can travel more the 10 miles and up to 15 mph and more, with some riders, depending on the duration of charge. 15mph is no way less speed or a child play.
Another great thing why I would prefer Razor E300 electric scooter over any other scooter anytime is that the customer service has a good reputation and on the official site you can find and order razor electric scooter parts for your scooter and model by the barcode of your specific vehicle without any hassles, because one of the major problem riders face is in getting the original part of electric scooter, once something in it is broken, Razor by now have sold more than 13 million razor motor scooters over the years, which clearly speaks about their popularity among people of all age group.
They released a variety of razor electric scooters so it can at times get really hard to pick one. Razor even offers small mopeds like razor pocket mod. So, eventually, you can’t go wrong with choosing Razor E300 as your preferred electric scooter.
